Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) Appraisal and Support
Grow Society supports school communities in appraising their current performance and practices to identify areas for EDI growth. Using a patented 21-category EDI assessment, Grow Society goes beyond an appraisal of demographic percentages and Likert scale opinions. We specialize in using mixed-method, case study-based, and cross-paradigm approaches to gain insight into systemic and social inequities.
Grow Society partners with district and school-communities in examining areas for EDI improvement, employing strategies for accessing EDI strengths, and coaching toward sustainable EDI progress. Together, we’ll map and implement steps for immediate and long term growth that are both progressive and sustainable.
Collaborating with stakeholders, Grow Society navigates and pro-actively champions juster and more equitable outcomes across intersectional dimensions of school policy and practice. By differentiating EDI from ABAR’s interpersonal work, we ensure that schools successfully audit and improve institutional practice by addressing needs, barriers, and inequities in:
- Curriculum and Instruction
- Funding, Resource, and Human Capital Management
- Political and Social Capital
- Admission and Retention
- Policy and Programming
Some of the ways that implementation support has taken place at a school near you:
- Low-inference classroom observations on spatial organization, visual cues, and language
- The creation of professional inquiry teams, relational coordination training, and facilitation of targeted professional learning communities.
- Observation and feedback cycles focused on teacher/student communications and relationships
- Monitoring and studying of district and school-level responses to behavior
- Development of transformative justice practices that restore (and establish, as necessary) spaces of collaborative learning, healing, and growth
Where interest exists, Grow Society will also facilitate intervisitation opportunities between schools and/or invite school members to join our professional learning communities for teacher-practitioners across schools.
At Grow Society, our work across our partnering schools has evidenced what scholarship has already taught us — that redistributing access, resources, and power is critical to the advancement of equity, diversity, and inclusion. As experienced specialists and practitioners, the purposeful tailoring of EDI and ABAR initiatives to the needs of your school community is one of our primary commitments.
We at Grow Society look forward to speaking with you about the manners in which an EDI appraisal and support program will advance your community and provide a healthier, juster, and safer environment in which all members of your school community will grow and flourish.
