Trauma-Informed Planning, Instruction, and Leadership
Trauma is addressed mainly by our limbic system. It directly impacts our ability when it comes to efficacious appraisals, emotional regulation, and memory. The experience of trauma not only hinders students’ ability to learn, but it also prevents and inhibits every aspect of communication, teaching, and leadership.
An understanding of the science of trauma and the manners by which personal histories, sociocultural contexts, and how the intersection (intra-, inter-, and extra) of perspectives impact individuals’ individual and collective experiences is integral to the health and growth of all members of the school community.

Whether due to long-standing resource insecurities, the more recent COVID-19 pandemic, or widespread civil unrest, primary and secondary trauma affect every member of the school community.
While many consultancies claim to educate about the impact of trauma, most overlook the intersecting identity, social, and institutional components that influence our experience of and response to traumatic occurrences. This oversight leads to monolithic perspectives that result in instruction that concretizes external trauma and further alienates students in creating school-based injury.
Grow Society supports school communities by empowering every community member to navigate the intersectional components of influence and efficacy in ways that will effectively mitigate trauma and its impact. Through the development and coaching of teams in the application of research-driven protocols, strategies, and techniques, Grow Society will ensure that each community member is equipped to:
- Appropriately address their own primary and secondary trauma
- Foster healthy emotional regulation in their classrooms
- Build collective and individual efficacy for students families
- Ensure growth where psychological and emotional barriers once stood
Grow Society is dedicated to supporting schools in the championing and development of trauma-informed planning, instruction, and leadership. We encourage you to schedule a complimentary consultation to speak with us about how Grow Society’s approach to trauma-informed practices can serve and grow your school community.
